Breaking the chains of Depression and Oppression. (Part 3)

I know there are times when we say, “I can’t do this anymore.” But I want you to know that you can. I am telling you that God has a hold of you, even when you cannot feel him.

The devil may try to pull you into darkness, but he will not succeed! God is reaching out to you, offering His hand of support and salvation. If you choose to take hold of it, He will lift you out of despair, heal your heart, and break the chains of depression and oppression.

Remember, no matter how deep the pit appears, with faith and trust in God, you can rise above it and experience the light and hope He promises.

You are not forgotten, and you are not alone in this battle. Your thoughts have been tormenting you. God can bring peace to your mind. Those sleepless nights – God can give you rest. That heaviness you have been feeling – God can lift it.

You don’t have to carry it alone; God is here to lift your burdens and give you the relief you need. All you have to do is ask and trust Him. Rely on His strength to walk with you on your path towards healing and hope.

You have been quiet too long. You have been holding it in too long. But today we need to shout, “I am free, I am whole, I am not what I feel, I am who God says I am.”

Because you are chosen! You are called. The blood of Jesus covers you!

Depression tried to label you, but it does not define you! Oppression tried to hold you, but it cannot keep you down! The weight tried to crush you, but it will not defeat you!

You are coming out of this stronger, wiser, and with a testimony that will break chains off of somebody else.

What you are fighting is not just physical, it is Spiritual!

2 Corinthians 10:4 says the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. That means what you are dealing with might feel real, but it’s not greater than the power of God working in you!

Strongholds are built over time, thought after thought, lie by lie, wound by wound. But listen: If they were built, they can be torn down.

The enemy builds with lies… but we tear down with God’s truth. And the truth is, you are not alone. You are not forgotten, and you are not too far gone. God sees you. God knows you by name, and God is right beside you, holding you in His arms.

Remember, just because you feel it doesn’t mean it’s true. Feelings will lie to you. Your thoughts will betray you, but the Word of God stands forever.

The teachings of God are our constant source of support. Even during our toughest emotional moments, they provide clear guidance and comfort that goes beyond our feelings and doubts.

So, when your mind says, I can’t go on, you declare, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

When your mind says, Nobody cares, you declare to the enemy, “God so loved me that He gave His only son.” When your mind says, You will never change, you declare. “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.”

YOU MUST FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE ENEMY!

This is not a silent fight – This is a Spiritual War! And you don’t win by sitting still – you win by opening your mouth. There is power in your praise, there is power in your declaration. There is power when you begin to worship in the middle of your struggle!

Because when your praise rises up, chains break! When your worship increases, darkness flees! When the name of Jesus is lifted high, demons tremble!

Some of us have carried a cloud of heaviness that we cannot explain. A darkness that seems to follow us from place to place. A voice that keeps whispering, “What’s the point?”

But today, that cloud can start to lift. Not through your strength…Not through your effort…but by the Spirit of the living God!

Today, we must rise from the ashes of despair, depression, and oppression.

Isaiah 61:3 says that God gives us beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

You may not feel like praising, but do it anyway. You may not feel like lifting your hands, but lift them anyway. You may not feel like declaring victory, but open your mouth anyway!

The enemy wants you to be silent; he wants you to sit still. The moment you open your mouth to ask for help and step into the light, you break the enemy’s grip. Darkness loses its power when it is exposed.

Because breakthroughs don’t come when you feel them, breakthroughs come when you act on the Word. We stand firm on the promises of God’s word, and we declare we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.

From a sermon I preached, Part 4 will follow soon.

  1. “The teachings of God are our constant source of support. Even during our toughest emotional moments, they provide clear guidance and comfort that goes beyond our feelings and doubts.”

This is a true statement and this entire post reminds me of Christian’s “worst” or most physically and spiritually intense battle in his fight with the demon Apollyon in the Valley of Humiliation. This “battle” is found in Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress. Thankfully, the “battle” doesn’t last longer than Christian can bear.

Any Christian who is in great despair to the point of wishing to take their own life or even if they can’t get out of bed for long lengths of time may have chronic depression. In any case like this, the person needs to see a doctor who specializes in mental disorders. Any pastor worth his salt should have a number of good references in this area.

    Thank you for this post.

    1. I agree that there are definitely times when seeking medical attention from a healthcare professional is necessary. That is precisely why we have doctorsโ€”specialists trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of health issues. God understands when we seek their advice, and I believe that during certain situations, medical intervention is essential for our well-being. However, I also know that our God can do more than we ask or imagine, offering healing beyond human capability. I would never tell someone that they are wrong for seeing a doctor, as both faith and medicine can work together to restore health.

This is a powerful and passionate message.

I hear the heart behind it, reminding people that God is near in the middle of struggle, and that there is hope, strength, and victory in Him even when life feels heavy.

At the same time, some people may be in very deep places where even speaking or declaring feels hard, and sometimes faith starts very quietly, even just with a simple prayer or reaching out to God in weakness.

But the main point is clear and strong: God sees you, you are not alone, and there is still hope in Him.

    1. Thank you! I truly appreciate your support. Sometimes, facing challenges can be overwhelming, and the enemy would love to silence our voices. I also understand that the more we sink into despair, the harder it becomes to find our way back. My sincere hope is that my words can uplift and encourage others, reminding them that no matter what hardships they face, God has not abandoned them.
