Examine Your Spiritual Thermostat Today

Now is not the time for us to be complacent or stagnant in our faith. We need to be passionate and on fire for the Lord. God is looking for those who are hungry for His presence, individuals who will seek Him wholeheartedly with all their hearts and minds.

How long has it been since you last checked your thermostat? Take a moment to consider your current comfort level: are you feeling hot, cold, or lukewarm in your faith? Remember, in the scripture, it is stated that if you are lukewarm, God will spit you out of His mouth. This serves as a reminder to examine our spiritual temperature and the intensity of our faith.

So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:16 (ESV)

With everything happening in our world today, I believe people will look to us to see whether we will continue to trust God despite the chaos. There may come a time when they seek answers from us. If we are not passionate about our faith in God, we will not be prepared for what lies ahead.

If we take a moment to observe our surroundings and reflect on current events, we can recognize that many of Jesus’ teachings are unfolding in our world today.

Matthew 24:6-8, You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. (NIV)

Matthew 24:10-12 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many fake prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. (NIV)

However, if we do not actively seek God’s presence through prayer and immerse ourselves in the Scriptures, we risk becoming disconnected from the wisdom and guidance they offer. In doing so, we may find ourselves unprepared to provide comfort, support, and answers to those seeking hope and direction during difficult times. Engaging with God’s word empowers us to be sources of light and truth for others in need.

To fulfill the mission God has entrusted to us, we must be passionate and fully committed to our faith. Being a lukewarm Christian, someone indifferent or lacking enthusiasm, makes it difficult to offer the hope and guidance others desperately seek, especially in a world that often seems overwhelmed by despair and darkness. When people are searching for answers amidst chaos and uncertainty, only those who are truly on fire for God can effectively shine light into their lives and inspire them to find hope and purpose.

Today, I encourage you to reflect on your faith. Are you truly seeking God with all your heart and mind? Are you someone who occasionally seeks God and reads a verse or two from the Bible, or do you believe that it’s sufficient to say, “I don’t need to seek God; He already knows I love Him”?

If you find yourself feeling lukewarm or cold, I encourage you to pray this prayer today:

Dear God, I come before you with a humble heart, asking for your forgiveness for the times I have neglected to seek your presence and for not desiring your Word as deeply as I know I should. I recognize that I need to develop a stronger hunger and thirst for a relationship with you. Please instill in me a passion and a longing for your presence, igniting a fire within me that inspires my faith. I want to shine brightly as a beacon of hope and love in this world, so that I can offer support and encouragement to others when they face their own dark and lonely moments. Guide me to reflect your light in all that I do. Amen
