How many times have we felt as though God has forsaken us? There have been moments when we felt abandoned, lost in the wilderness alone. I understand that feeling of being forgotten; if we are honest, we all have. In those times, we often allow the devil to invade our thoughts and convince us that God does not care about us. The devil knows exactly what tactics to employ to bring discouragement into our lives and hearts.
As I sat down to reflect on this Easter, I recalled that Jesus felt that His Father had forgotten about Him at one point. As He hung on the cross, He cried out, Eli, Eli, lema, sabachthani”(which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me “). Matthew 27:46 NIV.
When I read these words from Jesus, they serve as a powerful reminder that He was not only divine but also fully human. He experienced the same complex emotions we encounter—joy, sorrow, compassion, and frustration. This connection emphasizes that He truly understands our struggles and triumphs, making His teachings resonate even deeper in our lives.
Although Jesus was fully aware that His Father had not truly abandoned Him, at that moment on the cross, He experienced an overwhelming sense of isolation and despair. The weight of humanity’s sin pressed heavily upon Him, and amidst His suffering, He felt a profound loneliness that pierced His heart.
As I immerse myself in Jesus’s words so vividly printed in red, I find a profound sense of hope. Even in His darkest hour, when He felt the weight of despair pressing down on Him, God remained His unwavering support, never abandoning Him in the face of suffering. This powerful reminder of divine presence encourages me to hold on to hope, even in challenging times.
Satan believed he had secured victory that dark day when Jesus was crucified, reveling in what he thought was the end of hope for humanity. However, he was sorely mistaken; he was not the true victor. God had the final word in a profound display of love and sacrifice. When Jesus willingly surrendered His life on the cross, He was taking on the weight of our sins, paving the way for redemption and eternal life for all who believe.

This act of selflessness marked not the end, but the beginning of a new covenant between God and humanity, the promise that good would ultimately triumph over evil.
As he gave his life for ours, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, he gave up His Spirit. John 19:30 NKJV.
God did not forget His Son; He knew that the only way for humanity to attain salvation was by sacrificing His beloved son, Jesus Christ. This profound act illustrates the ultimate expression of divine love and selflessness. In times of despair or doubt, let us hold on to the comforting truth that God promises never to abandon us. Even when the enemy whispers doubts and fears into our hearts, we can find reassurance in God’s unwavering presence and faithfulness.
