When was the last time we evaluated our spiritual well-being? Are we finding it increasingly difficult to motivate ourselves to attend church on Sunday morning? Do we justify missing a Sunday service as inconsequential? Are we dedicating time to studying and reflecting on God’s word in the Bible? What about our prayer life? Do we sense a waning enthusiasm in our prayers compared to before?
We may be under a spiritual attack when we begin to experience these feelings. The adversary deceives us into believing it is acceptable, assuring us that God understands our situation. The enemy takes advantage of our fatigue after a long week of work. These are falsehoods that Satan tries to instill in us. Our love and zeal for God gradually diminish with each acceptance of these lies. The adversary is aware that, little by little, we will return to our previous way of life.
We recognize that our passion for serving the Lord has waned. However, it is essential not to overlook the warning in Revelation 3:16, which emphasizes the consequences of being lukewarm in our faith: “So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth” (ESV). Satan seeks to deceive us into thinking that maintaining a neutral position is acceptable when, in fact, it leads to spiritual complacency and distance from God.
With time slipping away, we must awaken to the spiritual trap the adversary has set for us. The enemy seeks to deceive us into believing that we no longer need the same level of engagement with the church or God’s teachings as we once did. Any inclination towards this mindset signifies an attack from the enemy, and we must act swiftly to counter it.
We must stand firm against the falsehoods spread by the enemy and actively oppose the spirit of lies and deceit. We must make a deliberate choice to dedicate time to being in the presence of the Lord, as it serves as a refuge and defense against Satan’s schemes. We must shield our minds with the cleansing and protecting power of the blood of the Lamb, knowing that it is a formidable defense, and reignite our fervor and devotion to God.
We cannot allow our adversary to take away the blessings graciously bestowed upon us. We must firmly commit to rekindling our passion for serving the Lord. Let this be our inspiration, our motivation, our driving force. We must be mindful that the allure of the unknown may harbor peril and deceit, and straying from the right path can make it arduous to realign ourselves. Let us remember the wisdom found in Provers 4:24, which advises us, “Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil” (NLT).
Today dawns with the promise of new beginnings, and we are presented with the profound choice of dedicating ourselves to God with unwavering commitment and passion. Once more, we must ignite the fiery flame of our devotion to God. The enemy forces will be compelled to retreat as we fervently call upon the Lord’s name. We steadfastly refuse to grant the enemy the foothold he so desperately seeks. Instead, we are resolute in our determination to engage in spiritual warfare, wielding the formable weapons bestowed upon us by God. Today signifies the pivotal moment when we reclaim all the enemy has seized from us.
